Dynamo 02:39
I looked at my bike And it had a dynamo I put on my wheels But the wheels they went too slow I wanted to have light I wanted to be seen but my Dream of a fast bike Well it stayed as just a dream I went to the bike shop And I looked at all the wheels I saw a real light one It was a very sweet deal I rode it home and back again And I felt very great, it was the Fixie of my dreams I’ve been boasting ‘bout it of late You looked at my old I smiled and nodded ‘yes’ But you didn’t pedal fast enough You were sluggish I confess You coveted my orange one But I said ‘No, ‘This one is too precious, Take the other and go’ Go Take this old one out my sight, Go out into the night I wish you all the best And I wish we could be friends But now I’ve found a better bike I think this is the end

Be Free 03:54
Someday soon all will go Back to the source of flow Waiting without fear For that emptiness to draw near Cut conversations Wilted grass If you truly could be free What sacrifice would that be Someday all will go Back to the source of flow Waiting for the day When that silence is here to stay Silenced prophets Empty tombs If you truly could be free What sacrifice would that be

Oh, the things that I’ve said Oh, the things that I’ve said They’re out my hands and down to sea They’re out my hands and down to sea Oh, the things that I’ve lost Oh, the things that I’ve lost Lost and gone away, gone away Gone away, gone away Wistfulness can be so unattractive It stops you from being proactive But the moon it shines on Night as short as the day is long I’m trying to find out what went wrong Oh, the things that I’ve done Oh, the things that I’ve done They’re out my hands and down to sea They’re out my hands and down to sea So won’t you please sit with me

Oh no, he didn’t do All the things his Mama told him to Oh boy! He was so bad But it was the best fun that he ever had And for 10 000 years His purgatory ended All the angels he offended Will laugh and sing, they will wear a gold ring Blame not he, blame the serpent on the tree He done it; we all took something from it And for 10 000 years Our sins are replaced, by a burgeoning human race Where everything good’s committed And no wrongdoing’s permitted It will be like that party, where everyone got high Heaven is on earth and we all know how to fly And for 10 000 years We’ve been waiting so long

Come my brethren, come and sit down Away from all the cities and away from the town Come my brethren, sit by the wood There is fire and there is music and we’ll all feel good Do you know where you come from Are you really that blessed? Do you know where you come from Have you been put to the test Do your family know where you are Are you really that blessed? Do your family know where you are Have you been put to the test Come my brethren, come and sit down Away from all the smog and dirt and away from the town Come my brethren, sit by the wood There is fire and there is music and we’ll all feel good We are just a bunch of lost souls Looking for a place to go We are just a group of lost souls Looking for a place to know The cells keep on dividing The blossom is on the tree Our actions are what we take pride in That’s the way it will always be Come my brethren, come and sit down Away from all the cities and away from the town Come my brethren, sit by the wood There is fire and there is music, and we’ll all feel good

about

'Lie Awake and Watch Your Dreams' is a collection of songs about destiny, reverie and bikes, written and performed by Bedfordshire based Alice Ream and produced by Londoner Zac Gvirtzman.
In her Oxford kitchen in the winter of 2012, Alice shared some of her recently written songs on guitar and voice with Zac. What followed was the beginning of their musical collaboration, as Zac experimented with pot and pan instrumentation to the song 'Ten Thousand Years'.
Along with found sounds, Alice and Zac are influenced by artists such as Ivor Cutler, Charles Mingus and Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab. Seven years on from those original Oxford recording sessions, these autumnal songs are released for your ears.
